留学生と男女共同参画センター横浜を視察しました
Field Trip to Gender Equality Center Yokohama

2024年9月18日（水）、横浜市戸塚区にある男女共同参画センター横浜を視察しました。椛島教授の引率のもと、国際社会科学府のアフリカ・アジア地域からの留学生14名が参加しました。

一同は、センター職員の方々より日本および横浜市における男女平等のための政策の現状について説明を受けました。また、センターが主催する講座・イベントや、男女平等のための支援、支援のための施設について学びました。質疑応答の時間には、留学生が母国でのジェンダー平等への取組みや現状の紹介を交えて発言し、活発な意見が飛び交いました。

視察後には、「私の国でもこのようなセンターをつくりたい、卒業後はその志を持って帰国したいと思います」と話す留学生の姿がありました。

On Wednesday, September 18, 2024, we visited the Gender Equality Center Yokohama in Totsuka-ku, Yokohama. Led by Professor. Kabashima, 14 international students at Graduate School of International Social Sciences from Africa and Asia participated in the field trip.

The participants listened with great interest to the center's staff explain the status of policies for gender equality in Japan and Yokohama City. They also learned about courses and events organized by the center, support for gender equality, and its facilities. During the Q and A session, the students spoke up with introductions of gender equality efforts and current conditions in their home countries, and lively opinions were exchanged.

After the visit, one of the students said, "I want to try to create the same kind of gender-equality center in my region. After graduation, I will return home with that aspiration in mind ."
